Description

Imagine being that educator…the one whose kids just ‘get’ how to play board games! Learning to count the spaces on a board game, recognize numbers on a dice or spinner and follow simple instructions are the first steps to developing essential early numeracy and age-appropriate social skills. Learning to recognize numerals to 6, count the corresponding spaces on a game board and knowing how to wait for a turn patiently are critical skills for all young learners. Board games promote a broad range of social and cognitive skills – problem-solving, resilience, persistence, the concept of fairness and emotional modulation to name a few.

This Easy Board Games for Kids Bundle can be used for centers, small group instruction or 1:1 work with a teacher or assistant. The activity includes a game board and reward cards that are essential for the game. You can use the included spinner or provide your own dice for this game. Note: Spinners from 2 to 4 are included – with younger players less numbers are used to make counting and numeral recognition easier. The game boards are only 20 spaces long – this means short games for short attention spans!

This Easy Board Games for Kids Bundle aligns with the EYLF and can be used to give your kids a solid base in early numeracy, social and executive function skills. The interesting pictures keep young players engaged and build visual discrimination skills at the same time.
