Description
I typically teach the Safety Unit at the beginning of the semester and I dreaded it. Especially because I didn't want to set the "mood" of the class with a topic I struggled with teaching. I was determined to find a way for students to retain this very important topic, but without the typical boredom that accompanies it.
The first is an activity where students will research and design a poster related to electrical, chemical or fire safety. I provided 3 examples that students can also choose, or you cold have them pick content of their choice. This activity comes with the 3 topic options, blank poster, and 2 pages of various clipart for them to use and color to make a professional styled poster. By providing some clipart for students to either use as a "tracing" method, or simply cutting out and pasting, even the most non-artistic can feel confident.
The second component is a sample test that can either be completed with an internet search or a textbook. I also included a Safety pledge in case you want to inlude that as well.
