Description
Welcome! I created this packet for anatomy and physiology students to help them better understand the etymology of compound words in the endocrine system chapter. The scientific words broken down in this exercise consist of hormones, medical conditions, target cells, and endocrine glands. I provided a two-column listing of twenty-four Latin/Greek prefixes, roots, and suffixes listed next to their English meaning. Students will break down the meaning of fourteen complex terms using the format below.
-
Students first are directed to slash each compound word into its prefix, root, and suffix.
-
Then students are directed to sequentially write the English meaning of each part in between forward slashes on the top numbered line.
-
Finally, students are directed to accurately define the term on the designated lines.
This document will become editable upon conversion to Microsoft Word using the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC app. It includes a complete key with the answers in red font.
This resource complements the following activities about the endocrine system in my store.
