Description
Students will read and analyze excerpts from the English Bill of Rights by answering 21 questions and completing 3 creative tasks. Two questions have students compare and contrast this to what they know about the Declaration of Independence and United States Bill of Rights. The original spelling has been preserved where possible for authenticity.
The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--Why would a citizen want to (or need to) petition the king freely and without risk of punishment?
--Who/what types of people were likely the intended beneficiaries of items 9 through 13?
--Explain the meaning of the phrase "that their religion, laws and liberties might not again be in danger of being subverted."
--Discuss why grievance number 6 was included in the Bill of Rights.
--If you were a commoner, which grievance would have been the most difficult to have lived under and why?
--Could there have been a British citizen not in favor of this document? Why or why not?
