European Exploration Quote and Image Analysis

Students will read 11 quotes about different aspects of Exploration (the Age of Discovery), from various point of view, analyze 9 images, and respond to up to 25 questions and tasks. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate. 

Sample questions include:
--In one brief sentence, summarize the point de Sepulveda is making.
--How does he justify that argument?
--Does de Las Casas’ thinking align with the God part of the 3 G’s of exploration? Why or why not?
--Explain the role played by any of the “3 G’s” of exploration in Alfonso’s account. Cite evidence from the text to support your answer.
--Which vocabulary phrase best aligns with what Acosta describes? 
-- Inferring from prior knowledge, identify and explain 3 improvements to maritime technology that were intended to help Columbus’ voyage be successful, and then contrast those improvements with the reasons for Columbus not achieving his true goal.
