Description
Hello there!
This past school year, I attended the California Social Studies Conference and learned about the new California framework. It really lends itself to teaching US History content thematically rather than straight chronologically. Don't worry- I'm not teaching material completely out of order. No, it's about choosing the main themes of US History, creating overarching essential questions that unite the material (thanks California framework), and then teaching it chronologically within that theme.
Sample of my "themes" (more commonly known as units): immigration & migration, rise of the US as a superpower, movements for equality
I've spent the better part of the summer working on a new curriculum map that lays out how I'll organize the content, teach every Common Core standard for 11th grade reading, writing, and speaking/listening, while still including engaging lessons and content. The entire curriculum builds up research and writing skills so that students can write a full research paper by the end of the year.
The best part is that this FREE resource is editable in PPT so if you have different content, standards, essential questions, or pacing, you can make any adjustment you need :)
As I build the lessons that fit into this curriculum map, I'll add them to my store and show you how I use them on Insta stories. Check out @mrspinteractiveclassroom so you don't miss a beat!
