Description

Students will read and analyze excerpts from Gandhi's 1942 "Quit India" speech on India gaining independence from Britain by answering 17 questions and completing an extension task. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub.

Sample questions include:
--How does he anticipate India not having a dictator after becoming independent?
--In what way does Gandhi think the differences between Hindus and Muslims will be overcome?
--Explain Gandhi’s warning against hatred towards Britain.
--Compare and contrast the role Princes would have under two potential Indian futures.
--What power do journalists have and how had it been restricted to this point?
--Why do you think Gandhi and other leaders in the Congress were arrested shortly after this speech?
