Introduce students to the Chinese New Year by having them explore the Chinese zodiac and learn about how the Lunar calendar influences Asia with this fun and thorough lesson. This includes an introduction, a group cooperative interactive reading activity, a carousel activity, and a wrap-up activity. All Geography & Math Made Easy lessons can be modified to meet the needs of the students and time restraints. Your student will enjoy the interaction while learning.

OBJECTIVE:

o The learner will become familiar with the purpose of the Chinese New Year.

o The learner will understand how China’s Chinese New Year influences Southeast Asia.

o The learner will understand the importance of the Lunar Calendar within various countries in the eastern

hemisphere.

o The learner will understand how the Lunar Calendar influences Asian culture.

o The learner will recognize the differences between the Gregorian calendar and the lunar calendar.
