Description

Looking for a fun way to introduce Christmas traditions around the world? This is a fun mini lesson (60 minutes) that will get your students excited about learning and about the season itself. It will open their eyes to various cultures and religions around the world.

 

Includes an activity where students get to use digital scanners on their ipad or phones to explore the history behind the Christmas pickle. If you don't have a digital classroom, you may choose to print off the article and duplicate it. However, students will need access to computers to complete the second group cooperative activity.

 

This fun lesson allows students experience to hunt for Christmas pickles and receive a present. This is a great way to distribute gifts to your students before the holiday season.

Lesson Includes and or requires:

o Reproducible pickles (Five per sheet) Number each pickle. (Included)

o Student Activity1: What Do Pickles Have to Do With Christmas? (Included)

o Wrapped gifts to give for the number of pickles the instructor hides throughout the room— you may either hide only five or 1 for each student. Each gift needs to be numbered. (Teacher made)

o Student Research Activity: Ornament reproducible (Included)

o iPads, or phones with QR scanner, or if your do not have the option of QR technology for each student, print out the story of

The Christmas Pickle.

o Computers, iPads or iPhones

o Cut out a human size Christmas tree out of green butcher paper. Tape on the wall.

o Reproducible pickles (Five per sheet) Number each pickle.

o Student Activity1: What Do Pickles Have to Do With Christmas?

o Wrapped gifts to give for the number of pickles the instructor hides throughout the room— you may either hide only five or 1 for each student. Each gift needs to be numbered.
