This worksheet and PowerPoint Presentation are to supplement the History Detective YouTube video: Gunnhild, Mother of Kings. It explores the life of Gunnhild who was married to a Viking king and bore him 6 sons. She is described as beautiful, ruthless and cruel, but can you always trust the reliability of the sagas?

One of the focus skills for the lesson is investigation contestable history. However, students will also build vocabulary, discuss gender representation in history, analyse a song, engage with the historical concept of reliability and complete further research.
