Description

Looking for a fun way to engage your students in practicing identifying verbs with your class? This Humans vs. Zombies is perfect for students to practice identifying verbs in a sentence while playing against a partner. In this game, students take turns answering by reading the given word and writing it as a comparative adjective to make up the image.

The game focuses on accuracy without any necessity for speed to ensure all students are met on their level. This digital game is self checking and easy to implement. The game is created in Google Sheets, but no prior knowledge of Google Sheets is required for the teacher or the student. The resource has some similar components to digital pixel art mystery pictures.

Students type their answers to the sentences with verbs into a Google Sheet which self corrects their response. If the answer is correct, part of the image is revealed. If incorrect, students are made aware with a small "x" next to their answer. Students love playing this easy to implement two player game!

Here's what you'll get:
  • Information for the teacher - how to play the game
  • Information for the Students
  • Editable Student Directions
  • 10 Sentences for Students to Determine if the Highlighted Word is a Verb
  • Ideas for Implementing the Game
  • Printable Student Recording Sheet
How to use this resource:
✅ Teacher shares a link of the Google Sheet
✅ Students collaborate with a partner to play the game against each other.
✅ Students solve on a whiteboard or the provided recording sheet.
✅ Students type their final answer on the Google Sheet
✅ If correct, a portion of the image appears. If incorrect, the student loses a turn and the opponent has the opportunity to steal the question.
✅ The student with the higher percentage of the image at the end wins.
