Have you explicitly taught the steps to write informative, opinion, and narrative writing, and your kids are still not ready to write independently? Use these interactive writing puzzles for test prep to help remind your class with words, pictures, and videos, the parts of all 3 types of writing. These Informative, Opinion, and Narrative Writing to Sources puzzle activities are wonderful for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. This writing product activity will walk your students through the parts of each of the 3 types of writing as they interact with peers. This can be used in class or as an online digital resource. Use this with these custom made videos (linked with QR codes in the product): An Introduction to Informative WritingAn Introdiction to Opinion Writing, and An Introductio to Narrative WritingThese resources will make writing easier and more enjoyable for your kids, bacuse they'll be able to see the all the parts of a good piece of writing plus differences between the 3 types. They can be printed off or uploaded to your favorite digital platform.

This activity includes:

-a 1 page teacher's guide

This will tell you exactly what you need to do for easy teacher prep, then it will take you step by step through the lesson plan.

FOR EACH OF THE 3 TYPES OF WRITING YOU WILL HAVE:

-a puzzle base page

This is the page that students will glue the steps for writing onto for each type of writing. Each is divided into 3 sections (introduction, body paragraph/s, conclusion or beginning, middle, and end).

-puzzle page

This is the page that has all of the parts of a good paper for each type (just jumbled, so kid s have to cut them out and put them into order with their group on the puzzle base). The "puzzle pieces" have words and pictures to guide students. This page also has a QR code that will link to the interactive video for that writing style. This is to be watched first, and repeated viewings of the whole thing or parts of it can be done as necessary.

-brain dump page

After working with partners or small groups, individuals can use this page to show what they learned. Like the puzzle base page, these are divided into 3 sections too.

-answer key page

This has all of the puzzle pieces in the correct place, split into the 3 sections. This can double as a helpful classroom tool later on if some or all of your kids need it.

These are useful, ready to go, NON-WORKSHEET resources.
