Kublai Khan Primary Source Analysis

Students read a brief background on Kublai Khan of the Mongolian Empire, a short account of him in battle, and answer 10 questions of varying levels of difficulty. They then complete 2 creative tasks (one has students look at Kublai Khan as both a villain and a hero, the other has students create a resume of sorts for him). The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--In what ways was Kublai Khan different from his predecessors?
--Using context clues, what does "arrayed" mean?
--What was the purpose of music being played and the men singing? What effect do think it had on the Mongols' enemies?
--Why do you think Marco Polo thought it necessary to have an account of these events?
