Welcome to Maths Builder Problem Solving. This resource is a series of PowerPoint slides designed to be used each day as a warm up activity to introduce, practise, embed, extend and master skills and concepts within maths.

The slides within this pack support the children in practicing problem solving within a multi-step approach, as well as single step questions. It uses the contexts of negative numbers, missing numbers within a context (shape) number recognition within a problem, four operations to solve extended problems, grouping and sorting of numbers (classification) and using scales to change from one measure to another.

INSPIReducation have used all of the resources from the Maths Builder range within the classroom and have seen a huge impact in the development of mathematical skills, and as a result, a deepening of maths understanding as well as confidence in the areas focused upon.

Because these resources are designed to be a short, daily activity, children can't forget skills and concepts taught to them weeks before. It allow the children to see links between different areas, particularly as these activities can be linked to the topics of the day, and warm the children up to maths before the main objective of the lesson. It prepares them well for the speed of assessment tasks and supports revision.

Once used, it takes minutes to review each slide, keep the main element the same, but change the numbers the children are dealing with.
