Mayflower Compact Primary Source Analysis

Students will read the Mayflower Compact, write segments of it in modern terminology, and answer 10 questions to demonstrate understanding. The answers are included where appropriate and the historical spelling and grammar has been preserved for authenticity. This would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--How do the colonists explain why they are combining in a “civil body Politick?”
--Citing evidence from the text, who authored the Compact? How accurate do you think their claim is and why?
--How do you think they would handle/approach challenges once on land based on this document (with each other, with Native tribes, with the elements, with future colonists, etc)?
