This resource contains three engaging projects for middle grade students that cover map skills, economics, and government! Each project is a three-day lesson series, but also includes extra activities and handouts.
In the Journey Around the World Project, students will create a map and directions to apply their understanding of cardinal and intermediate directions, along with scale.
In the Shark Tank Project, students will create a product and business plan to apply their understanding of risk, profit, saving, investing, and other economics concepts.
In the Desert Island Project, students will create a plan of government for a desert island and compare and contrast their government to the United States government. They will apply their understanding of the three branches of government, rights, responsibilities, compromise, and other government concepts.
Each project includes reflection writing prompts, vocabulary overview and quiz, as well as extra practice handouts or extension activities!
Answer keys are included for the vocabulary quizzes.
