Mixtures and Solutions Crime Scene Project

This package will provide you with all the information, handouts and instructions needed to set up a fake crime scene in your classroom and spark the interest of your students! In this project, students become crime scene investigators as they use their knowledge of mixtures and solutions to crack the case! This is intended to be used at the end of a grade 7 Science unit on mixtures and solutions, but it could easily be adapted and used at other grade levels.

What's Included?

-Lists of materials needed (almost all of them can be found in your local grocery store!)

-Instructions on how to set up the Crime Scene

-Instructions on how to setup the clues and groups

-Worksheets, clue sheets and lab sheets for 7 different experiments and 5 crime solving tasks!

(Some examples of the experiments and activities include: using the periodic table, solving a cryptogram, separating mixtures and solutions, identifying the properties of various items, determining which items are mechanical mixtures, solutions or pure substances, and explaining the particles in solids, liquids and gases.)
