Description
This listing features two one-page crossword puzzles, two answer keys, and a one-page master word bank for both crossword puzzles about vocabulary terms affiliated with the moon for an astronomy unit in a middle school Earth Science Course.
The vocabulary terms cover the Galileo’s invention and contribution to the field of astronomy, morphological features of the moon, the moon’s gravitational effect on Earth through the tides, phases of the moon, the sequence of lunar phases, eclipses, and the lunar rotation and tilt of the moon’s orbit with respect to Earth’s orbital plane around the sun.
Here is a list of the twenty-three vocabulary terms covered between both crossword puzzles.
Crater, Crescent, Eclipse, Full moon, Galileo, Gibbous, Lunar eclipse, Maria, New moon, Penumbra, Quarter moon, Reap tide, Revolution, Rotation, Solar eclipse, Spring tide, Third quarter, Tides, Tilted, Umbra, Waning, Waxing, Waxing crescent
The clues are on the same side of the crossword puzzle grid, which is a nice feature for students.
Both crossword puzzles will become editable upon conversion of the PDF file to Microsoft Word using an Adobe Acrobat Reader DC app. The crossword puzzles can be printed off back to back as a full-page handout to minimize the number of copies run off. I excluded word banks from the crossword puzzles and typed out an additional page that serves as a combined word bank for both crossword puzzles in the event students need it as an accommodation instead.
