Description

This bundle includes two crossword puzzles - one about volcanoes and a second crossword about earthquakes. I assign these crossword puzzles in my middle school earth science course.

There is a total of thirty clues for students to solve for completion between the two user-friendly crossword puzzles. Vocabulary terms covered in the volcano crossword puzzle are caldera, crater, magma, Ring of fire, vent, volcanic ash, volcanic dust, lava, cinder cones, shield volcano, volcano, volcanic bombs, composite volcano, and cinders. Vocabulary terms covered in the earthquake crossword puzzle are an earthquake, epicenter, focus, hypocenter, L-waves, P-waves, primary waves, Richter scale, S-waves, secondary waves, seismic waves, seismogram, seismograph, seismologists, surface waves, and tsunamis.

I also included a boxed-in word bank in each crossword puzzle as an accommodation for students who struggle in academics and with spelling.

This PDF file will become editable upon conversion to Microsoft Word using an Adobe Acrobat Reader app.

There is no space between words in two-word answers in the grid, which is explained in the directions. I provided a one-page answer key for each crossword puzzle.

This crossword puzzle set complements the other unit lessons I have published:
  • Volcano Fill-in-the-Blank Study Guide
  • What am I? Volcano Vocabulary Builder Activity
  • Volcano Formation Coloring Analysis Classification Activity
  • Volcanoes and Earthquakes Homework Quiz
I offer dozens of quality field-tested, innovative, practical, and user-friendly products for several fields of science - biology, chemistry, field ecology, physical science, earth science, space science and human anatomy and physiology.
