Description
Welcome! This full-page homework quiz is about stresses acting upon Earth’s crust and the deformations that result. I proctor it in my middle school earth science class.
This PDF file will become editable upon conversion to Microsoft Word using an Adobe Acrobat Reader DC program.
The assessment has five sections.
-
In the first section, students circle the term in the pair that happens first in the chronological sequence.
-
In the second section, students draw and label the parts and movement of a normal fault, a reverse fault, a fold with an anticline and a syncline, and a rift valley formation.
-
In the third section, students unscramble words to write coherent definitions of integral geologic terms.
-
In the fourth section, students circle all of the answer choices that are true about the term for each question.
-
In the last section, students circle the answer not correct about the vocabulary term.
I included a two-page key with the answers in colored font.
Other key terms covered in this exam are footwall, hanging wall, thrust fault, lateral (strike-slip fault), dome, compression, tension, shearing, plateau, fracture, magma, and uplift.
This resource complements the other activities relating to faults and stresses on the earth's crust in my store.
