Description

Order of Operations Jeopardy Game - PEMDAS

This Jeopardy style game is a really fun group classroom activity! Students will solve the increasingly difficult problems in teams as they earn points to win the game. This file is a PowerPoint file and is played as a slideshow.

Directions: Open the PowerPoint presentation then click on the slideshow tab and select the start slideshow from beginning. When the title slide opens up click on ‘Click here to begin the game’. There are 4 categories "Add, Subtract & Multiply" "Add, Subtract, Multiply & Divide" "Exponents" and "Surprise Me!". Students will select what category and level of difficulty. Click on the number and it will take you to the appropriate slide. Have students work on the problem. To see the answer, just click on that slide or push the enter or space bar button and the answer will appear. To get back to the game board, click on the home icon at the bottom of the slide. You will know that a question has already been viewed because the number will change colors from blue to white.

***Teacher Tip: I typically put my students into 4 larger groups (they also love picking a name for their team). This way they can work together on each problem. I allow other groups to ‘steal’ the problem if the original group was incorrect. I only award them half the points so no group pulls too far ahead. Keep track of team scores so they know who wins at the end. There is also a ‘Daily Double’ question – I have all the students pick how much they want to wager and then solve the problem. Because everyone has a chance to win the points for the Daily Double, I let the group that picked that question pick again so they don’t lose a turn.
