Description

Students will visit two websites, answer 19 questions, and complete a commemorative task to learn about the events leading to Pearl Harbor. They will then watch 3 videos about the attack itself (two from survivors and one from historic news reels) and will respond to 6 reflection questions and writing prompts. Lastly, they will compare and contrast 10 propaganda posters relating to the attack at Pearl Harbor. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub if your students have access to technology!

Sample questions include:
--Explain the connection between imperialism and Japan’s “collision course” with America.
--Explain why the Stimson Doctrine was put into action and how effective it was or was not.
--Describe the sequence of events that quickly escalated Pacific tensions in 1940.
--What was “Southern Operation?”
--Why wasn't Pearl Harbor a complete win for the Japanese?
--Describe what the American recovery after Pearl Harbor implied for the course of World War 2.
