This resource is a 5-Act, 25-role reader's theater script for Presidents' Day! Students will learn about the history of the holiday as well as some of the most well-regarded presidents. Reader's Theater is an engaging instructional strategy for middle grade students that allows them to act out various historical scenes. The acts are as follows:
Act I: The All-Time Greats (Washington and Lincoln)
Act II: Early Leaders (Jefferson and Madison)
Act III: The Roosevelts (T. Roosevelt and FDR)
Act IV: Shaping a New World (Truman and Eisenhower)
Act V: Charismatic Leaders (JFK and Reagan)
Each act includes discussion questions. There is a quiz for students at the conclusion of the play, as well as an extension activity in which students will create their own script for a modern-era president!
Answer key is provided for the quiz.
