Description

Students will read two points of view on whether or not the colonies should go to war with Britain and answer 33 questions. They will also analyze 3 images according to a provided prompt. The excerpts are from John Carmichael in 1775 (a Presbyterian Minister) and the Quaker community in 1776. The answers are included and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Inferring from the year and the historical context, provide two examples of the “ministerial wrath” Carmichael was referring to.
--What did Carmichael see as the choice facing the colonists in 1775?
--Explain what the answer to #5 should have been convinced of and why.
--Under what circumstances does Carmichael support, or agree with, giving up certain rights? Provide an example to support your answer.
--Explain Carmichael’s connection between war and a civil government.
--Does Carmichael believe he should be considered a “rebel,” why or why not?
--Summarize the warning given to those who insist on pursuing bloodshed.
--Citing evidence from the text, do they want to see that connection modified, why or why not?
--Inferring from the historical context and prior knowledge, what doesn’t align with the answer to number 24? Provide a specific example in your answer.
