Description
All of the elements of the learning process are included in this interactive Hyperdoc that explores the rise of Augustus Caesar and the Pax Romana in Ancient Rome. Students also discover the strengths of the Roman military and how it was used to conquer the Mediterranean basin.
In this activity:
1) Engage: Students listen to a video of the Roman army marching through Rome, and imagine what life would like to be on both sides of that march.
2) Explore: Students will watch a video and explore a variety of resources to learn about the technology and military tactics the Roman army used to conquer the Mediterranean basin.
3) Explain: Students will explain how Augustus was able to secure the people's support.
4) Elaborate: Students use evidence from a video to support a claim arguing about the various trade routes the Romans used as they conquered a huge empire.
5) Evaluate: Students evaluate the impact of expansion and trade on the Roman Empire.
This resource is a PowerPoint presentation as well as a Google Slide that can be shared with students directly or put onto Google Classroom. You will get a link to the Google Slide version of this activity. It will ask you to make a copy of the document when you open it. You will then be able to edit the document if desired.
This activity works well in a classroom as well as a distance learning environment.
