Description
This Revolutionary War soundtrack project will bring the unit alive for your US History classes and make this era of history relevant to your students! This product includes the rubric and PowerPoint template for students to create their own soundtrack for the American Revolution and to relate the music they love today, to major events from the past. In this project, students will summarize the following major events and pick a song that would play during that event if they were in charge of a soundtrack for a movie based on the American Revolution: Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, Lexington & Concord, the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Battle of Saratoga, Valley Forge, Battle of Yorktown, and the signing of the Treaty of Paris 1783. Students will also have to cast the following important figures from the Revolutionary War: King George III, Benjamin Franklin, Crispus Attucks, George Washington, Thomas Paine, John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson, James Armistead, John Paul Jones, Mercy Otis Warren.
This PowerPoint template and rubric is editable so you can customize it if needed. There are also instructions explaining how students can insert videos from YouTube of the songs they select and pictures of each event included in the PowerPoint to help them picture the event. I usually give out awards after I have graded all of the projects for "best song choice for ______________________". My students LOVE this assignment!
