Description

Students will read a brief letter written by Santa Anna in 1874 regarding the events at the Alamo. The letter is a response to a request for additional information on the Battle from 1836. They will answer 9 questions, complete two tasks, and analyze two images by responding to provided prompts. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--What mentality, or emotions, does Santa Anna start the letter with? Provide examples from the text to support your answer.
--Why do you think another explanation of the events at the Alamo were requested? Who (or which group of people, or which organization) do you think made this request and why?
--How does S. Anna justify his "bloody actions?"
--Compare and contrast the tone of this letter to the tone you think his original letter might have contained.
--Re-write the following phrases, and pick one of your own to re-write, as if Santa Anna had written them in the original letter.
