Description
Students will read and analyze a brief background of the Christmas Truce of World War 1 (WW1, WWI) and an account of a British soldier who was part of it by answering 16 questions and completing a creative task. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate.
Sample questions include:
--Inferring from prior knowledge and context clues, explain 2 differences between the war of movement and trench warfare.
--Why might the commanders have been hesitant to agree to this and to participate?
--What impact could first hand knowledge of the German trench have had on Richards?
--How did both sides still keep their guard up and why?
--Write a contextually appropriate synonym, or explanation of, “mucked about.”
