Description
Students will read and analyze excerpts from Young Italy's oath and a speech from Mazzini regarding Italian Unification by answering 18 questions and completing 2 extension tasks. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--Why do you think he singled out progress and duty to be part of their focus?
--What about his efforts were considered “revolutionary” at the time and why?
--Identify 3 driving factors/motivations/forces, for those taking the oath.
--Describe the implied severity of taking this oath.
--How might an anti-unification Italian have responded to the first half of this text?
--If you were a reporter in Mazzini’s Italy, what are 3 questions you would have asked him about nationalism and Italian unification?
