Description

Thomas Edison had a "Growth Mindset" and this collaborative poster and writing prompt assignment is a great way for your students to begin thinking in that manner as well. Each student is given a piece of the poster, which they will color on and eventually piece together with the rest of their classmates. Each piece of the poster has several different writing prompts that they can choose and write about in addition to coloring their piece of the poster.

There is also an individual assignment students can do. The file contains a worksheet with several different writing prompts about how to respond to different failures that we encounter. Anytime we do these poster in class, my students get excited. They love to color and be able to express themselves artistically and I love the writing portion of the poster. Each hour when my students walk into the room they enjoy reading what the other classes have written. It is a very engaging piece of artwork that you can keep up all year long and reference frequently!

This file comes with instructions and 2 poster options. There is one large poster with writing prompts and one regular sheet of paper with questions on the back. Each page comes with instructions and specifics on how to color certain parts.

This is a great assignment for anytime of the year. You can use it at the beginning of the year to encourage the "Growth Mindset" from the start, at the middle of the year as a motivational tool, or at the end of the year as a way to reflect on what has taken place.
