Time-Tested Rubrics Sheet for a Genetic Condition Presentation Project

This two-page rubrics sheet for a genetic condition presentation project is my latest version, which has evolved over a twenty-four-year span. I utilize it in my freshman biology class. Students research a genetic condition and later present on the topic. The explicit rubrics guide students toward their goal of providing an engaging and informative presentation. The teacher and peer evaluators will use this rubric for grading purposes.

The instructor accounts for 50% of the weight of the evaluation in this rubric. In my scheme the teacher randomly selects three of the presenter's peers to independently judge the presentation for the remaining percent of the grade. Throughout this project, you will empower students to engage in higher-level thinking skills to make sound evaluations. Peer evaluators will not be able to sabotage or egregiously help the presenting students under the existing guidelines
