Description
This full color, 30 slide presentation is a great introduction to the 13 Original colonies and the Birth of America. I use this activity, which includes a graphic organizer for student notes, a map activity and creative Exit Card activity to remind students of how people first populated North America, why Europeans were exploring and were claiming land in the New World, and make the connection to the establishment of the 13 British colonies in America. Great Review of their World History class!
Students will briefly review topics like: Beringia (ice-bridge), the Vikings exploration, Silk Road problems leading to European Exploration, the indigenous tribes living in the America's (pre-Columbian), Columbus' exploration, the European race to claim land in the New World, Protestant Reformation, the Columbian Exchange and the Triangular Trade system and MORE!
A map activity is included which allows students to VISUALLY see the events related to the Birth of America. There are stopping points embedded in the presentation, which allow students to label their map in chronological order so they can see the progression of events.
On the map students label: 7 continents, 4 oceans, the Silk Road, the birthplace/spread of Christianity & Islam, the location of the Aztec, Inca, Maya Empires, the route Columbus took to the New World, the Triangular Trade route and MORE!
