Description
Students will read and analyze two points of view on Lend-Lease from WW2 by answering 33 questions and completing an extension task. The sources are from FDR in 1940 and James O'Connor in 1941. The answers are included and this could work for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--What was the “issue” of 1933 and why might FDR have referenced it?
--Why weren't the oceans enough of a source of protection?
--How does FDR address concerns about American soldiers getting involved in a European fight?
--Identify the main point of the last paragraph.
--How would Lend-Lease impact the balance of power in the government?
--Summarize how the world could know and enjoy peace.
--Which of FDR’s points/arguments is the strongest and why?
--Which of FDR’s points/arguments is the weakest and why?
--What could be added to strengthen that weakest point and why?
--Which of FDR’s points does O’Connor most and least effectively counter and why?
