Description

Get those students working on making some Christmas greeting cards with original poetry. My students…from 1st grade to 6th grade…were always excited to write poetry especially when they could add the poem to their own card. Parents, grandparents and other family members loved receiving the cards!
 
This product is a collection of resources for use when teaching students how to write poetry. The resource supplements your lesson or unit on writing poetry and includes a selection of December themed decorated papers.
 
Specific types of poetry are targeted:
• Acrostic
• Haiku
• Diamante
• Cinquain
• Couplet
 
Included in the packet are the following:
• Mini-Posters for display
• Worksheets for practicing writing poetry
• Collection of seasonal decorated papers for writing poetry.
 
Also included are several greeting cards. Students may color the pictures and add their poem to the inside. I have always found that students are creative enough to design their own cards. Have a box of odds and ends. Include lace, rick rack, trims, buttons, beads, colored paper, fabric and scrap booking papers and let them have fun!
