Description
This resource is a great maths game for the whole class.
3D Shape Bingo has been designed for up to 30 players.
How does the game of Bingo work?
Each child receives a Bingo card which has been divided into three sections:
- 3D shape
- 3D nets
- Shape Descriptions
The class teacher has a set of 27 shape cards which include:
- 9 images of 3D shapes
- 9 images of 3D nets
- 9 descriptive passages focusing upon the language of 3D shape (faces, edges and vertices).
The teacher shuffles the cards to ensure that all 27 cards are well and truly jumbled. The game is ready to be played!
Playing the game
The teacher pulls out the first card and shows it to the class. The teacher does not say what the shape is - the children must work out whether it is a solid shape, a net, or if it is a description, the shape which is it describing.
Once the children know the shape they are looking at, they tick it off their Bingo Score Card.
The first child to get a row of three wins the first challenge.
The first child to get a column wins the second challenge.
The first child to complete all shapes wins the third challenge.
The game can be repeated as many times as the children want to play the game. Cards can be swapped between players and the game played again.
Counters can be used to cover up the shape names - or, if the sheets are laminated, the children can use a "whiteboard pen" to tick off the shapes. Once the game has been played, the game cards can be wiped clean and the game played again.
We hope that you enjoy this game with your children.
