40 Verbalize and Visualize Strategy Activities for Language and Reading Comprehension. FOUR LEVELS OF PRACTICE: PICTURE, WORD, SINGLE SENTENCE, SENTENCE TO SENTENCE. This product of instructional materials was created to help student learn and practice reading and speech language strategies. It walks students through a scaffolded series of activities to help them interpret what they see and decode into images that help them make connections to text and strengthen comprehension and recall. 

You will also notice the pictures, words, sentences, and paragraphs are related (e.g. there is a picture of a duckling, the single word “ducking’, a sentence about a duckling, and a paragraph about a duckling). This continuity helps scaffold student learning as they move from less difficult to more difficult activities. 

Included in this product are 10 activities for each of the four skills; Picture to Words, Words to Picture, Single Sentence to Picture, and Sentence to Sentence Imagery. There is also an example of each to help students understand what they should be doing. In addition, there is a Structure Words chart and card set. There is also an enlarged photo of the Picture to Words photos. These photos can be printed and laminated in color in case the activities pages need to be printed in grayscale.
