Description
Students will learn more about the all African American female 6888th unit from WW2 (WWII, World War 2) who served in Europe from 1945-1946. This resource includes a 10 slide power point (also included as a PDF) and a 14 question note guide with creative tasks. The note guide includes links to 4 videos providing additional information on the unit and interviews from some of the women who served in it. This would be great for a unit on minorities during WW2, lesser known contributors to WW2, Black History Month, or Women's History Month! The answers are included where appropriate!
Sample questions include:
--Who was Charity Adams Early?
--Explain the significance of having Eleanor Roosevelt’s support.
--Write an explanation of why being self-sufficient may not have been a choice AND why the 6888th might have in fact preferred to be self-sufficient.
--Summarize the greater difficulty that the women from the 6888th would have had in going back to America after the war compared to members of other units.
--If you could ask a member of the 6888th Battalion any 3 questions what would they be?
