Description

These lessons go with three History For Humans videos.
1: Stock Market Crash
2: Dust Bowl
3: FDR & the New Deal

These episodes teach students the way they learn best- through the power of story. The first episode covers how the stock market crash triggered the great depression by diving deep into the week when the stock market crashed but it also unpacks the other causes of the Great Depression. The next episode teaches the amazing story of the Dust Bowl and how it affected families living through it while also unpacking how average Americans were impacted by the Great Depression. The last episode covers the transformative first 100 days and President Roosevelt's New Deal and how it forever transformed theAmerican government.

The resources that go with each lesson include an interactive notesheet that gets students to make predictions, analyze a photograph, define terms, and complete a cause and effect chart. Each episode also has an extension lesson to dive deeper into the topic that helps build historical thinking skills. There are stations activity for the stock market crash and causes of the Great Depression, a primary source exploration analyzing photographs, a song, and a letter from the Dust Bowl before writing a historical letter, and an amazing 'Shark-Tank'-like lesson where students evaluate New Deal Programs, scrap one, advocate for one, and then create their own! All lessons have supports and scaffolds for diverse learners and answer keys for everything!

Your students will be engaged and you will save time, energy, and stress!
