Description

Students will read excerpts of Thomas Paine's Common Sense and answer 15 questions. They will also define or identify 6 words and complete a news headlines and snippet preview task. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Using your own words, what does Paine hope readers will get from this text?
--Explain the meaning of the fracture in the young oak analogy in reference to Paine’s historical context.
--Why would America flourish regardless of connection to any European powers?
--Does Paine believe Britain should be referred to as the “mother country,” why or why not?
--Provide an academic term to classify the king based on the making laws reference.
