The 'making connections' literacy activities in this free printable go along with the book, Leo the Late Bloomer, by Robert Kraus. It can be used with small groups in the traditional classroom, or for parents to complete with their students during this time of distance learning.
As Leo the tiger begins school, he realizes that he cannot do the same things as his friends (reading, writing, drawing, etc.). However, as Leo’s year progresses, so do his skills. In fact Leo ‘blooms’ as he learns to do what the other young animals do!
The story of Leo helps K-2 learners connect with his struggles as they realize that, while not everyone blooms at the same time, blooming is possible in one's own time! The story and activities are great for back to school!
