I love Purposeful Pedagogy... there's not many resources out there for Health Science teachers... but you can tell that a lot of time & energy goes into making these activities... even if it's just a "glorified worksheet," it makes it a little more fun and the concepts understandable. Health Insurance is hard... but this and the "Game of Life" really helped my students figure it out!

My students loved the specific scenarios and they said it was really helpfl to their understanding of how insurance works.

Activities help simplify a difficult concept

I don't usually spend too much time on insurance, so this allowed me to introduce terms and allow them to do relate it to real life.

I've taught medical insurance for three years to my Medical Assistant students and this will always be my go-to for this lesson. It makes it clear and understandable and allows them to work through a card. I do wish it included Tricare/Worker's Comp., but that's simple to add into the lesson. It was very frustrating to realize that the math is wrong on the key. I felt like a moron until we worked it out.

This is a tough and typically dry unit of content to cover. However, the worksheets help students understand complex material in an easy-to-understand format. Will definitely use them again!

Really helps students understand the cost of insurance and how it works. The numbers for National General Insurance are different on the answer key from the student worksheet. I didn't catch it before hand so it led to a little bit of confusion. But easy enough to change on the key for next time!
