Description

Students will review the people, ideas, and key vocabulary from American Imperialism (Spanish-American War, Panama Canal, Boxer Rebellion and Open Door Policy, Roosevelt Corollary, etc) by mixing and matching 38 terms to their images and identifications, answering 8 review questions. Students create their own images for 8 terms (a written example is included). This includes a page of teacher instructions and the answers where appropriate.

Sample questions include:
--Many events transpired in the second half of the 1800s that tested America’s resolve and commitment to the Monroe Doctrine. Pick 2 of the following to discuss thoroughly, especially as they relate to imperialism.
--Discuss why Hawaii was the foundation for the first legitimate American political debate over imperialism.
--Explain each cause of the Spanish-American War, then rank them in order of least to most responsible for the war and explain why your ranking is what it is.
--Explain the meaning of, “You furnish the pictures and I’ll furnish the war” and identify who said it. Then, describe what is happening in this image and who the figures could be.
