Mexican-American War Quote and Image Analysis

Students read 13 quotes related to the Mexican-American War, analyze 6 images, and respond to 25 questions/tasks. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!  

Sample questions include:
--Inferring from the historical context, what crimes could Giddings be referring to?
--Who is a historical figure who would have agreed with this quote. What might he or she have advocated for after the end of the war?
--What does he see as America’s goal and does he agree with it, why or why not?
--For what purpose does Buchanan support expansion?
--Identify the main point of this excerpt. Does it support the war, why or why not?
--Explain what Polk’s next step will be given this quote.
