DIY Thanksgiving Light-up cards lesson includes:
STEM electricity project for learning electric circuits and for makerspace projects! Thanksgiving activity designed for teachers on a budget. Includes printable card templates for students to easily make a paper circuit. Step-by-step instructions make this a perfect DIY project for students to learn about electricity and circuits while completing a really cool Thanksgiving craft.
Includes:
- 4 card templates
- Step-by-step illustrated instructions
- Video demonstration instructions
- Reading passage—students learn by doing and also read about electric current, closed circuits, potential and kinetic energy, conductors and how those concepts apply to this project. Written in kid-friendly language.
For each card, you will need to supply:
one LED, one 3V button battery and about 12 inches of copper tape. Students will also need glue, tape, and some napkins. This product was designed for teachers on a budget! It's possible to supply an entire class with materials for every student to make their own light-up card for less than $20 in all.

It is a math project designed for students to complete independently or with a group. Each group/student may get different problems or each can get them all.
Students have to ship orders before Thanksgiving in their Grocery Store. Packing orders in a hurry, they forgot one important thing in describing packages, and now they have to use their mathematical skills to assign orders to customers correctly. They also received a strange mystery order and they need to figure it out.
This project covers (20pages):
- Writing and solving systems of equations (20 problems)
- Writing and solving inequalities (4 problems)
