Spindletop Primary Source Analysis

Texas History students will read an account of the discovery of oil at Spindletop, how the excitement of it spread to Galveston, and answer 12 questions. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

 Sample questions include: 
--Re-write “feverish state of excitement” in your own words to demonstrate understanding.
--Why would people in other towns have wanted verification of the rumors?
--How well, or not, did Beaumont handle the discovery of oil? Cite evidence from the text to support your answer.
--What would a reason have been for men, “remaining stirred up with it?”
--What would be a reason for people NOT coming to towns that had recently discovered oil, and why?
