Description

Students will read and analyze the surrender documents of Germany and Japan from World War 2 (WWII) by completing a similarities and differences chart, answering 19 questions, and comparing and contrasting 4 images. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Inferring from prior knowledge, why wasn’t Hitler one of the signatures on the German surrender?
--Provide a contextually appropriate definition, or synonym, for “scuttled.”
--Describe what constitutes an “unconditional surrender.”
--Identify the main point of the 4th paragraph.
--Explain why China would have been included in the Japanese surrender documents but not those of Germany.
--What was the order given to the civil, military, and naval officials?
--Why would a paragraph have been included specifically for the Emperor?
