Description

Students will read and analyze an account of the Battle of the Alamo from the point of view of a Mexican soldier and 2 accounts from survivors of the Alamo by answering 16 questions and completing 4 extension tasks (points of view, a museum exhibit, news headlines, and a memorial). The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Santa Anna considered his opposition “insurgents." Explain the meaning of that term and identify or describe how you think the “insurgents” would have referred to themselves.
--Inferring from the context, what sort of battle is a siege?
--Explain how Colonel Duque’s order was in opposition to generally accepted military rules.
--Can you identify any bias in the account? If so where, and if not, why not?
--Where were the 3 accounts most similar and why? Where were their biggest differences and why? With multiple accounts for single events, how do we know which is most accurate
