Description
Students will read a one page excerpt from the 1848 Declaration of Sentiments of the Seneca Falls Convention, answer 22 questions, and complete 3 comprehension tasks. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate. See the preview for a closer look!
Sample questions include:
--Regarding the answer to number 3, why did that prove problematic in Antebellum America?
--How does the Declaration set the stage for the facts being submitted? Explain the parallel between the 1848 list and that of the Declaration of Independence.
--On what grounds could the women say they “had no voice” in laws?
--Why do you think they included the 4th item?
--Explain the connection between item 6 and the Cult of Domesticity.
--What could provide women with the “immediate admission” referenced in the final paragraph?
--Does this document seem more of a request or a demand, and why?
