Description
Students will analyze 17 documents, answer 17 historical context questions, complete a sorting chart, and write a DBQ essay to review the first Industrial Revolution in Europe. There are 13 essay prompts for students to pick from but one allows for the class or teacher to make their own prompt. The answers are included where appropriate and the initial analysis part would be great for a sub! ***Some of the sourcing is a bit generalized so that students have to place it in the historical context/event themselves.***
Sample questions include:
--Identify the main point of Document 4 and explain the meaning of the phrase, “carried an alarm to the work people.”
--Does Engels likely see the cost as outweighing the benefit of the Industrial age, why or why not?
--What is Document 8 attempting to justify and how could it be factually countered by the opposite point of view?
--Describe the historical context of Document 10.
--Provide an academic term/phrase that is most closely related to Document 12. Infer its wider role in the Industrial Revolution.
--Rewrite Document 14 in your own words to demonstrate understanding.
