Description

Students complete an interview activity to review Martin Luther and John Calvin's beliefs, teachings, and roles in the Reformation. They first answer 10 history based questions, then they "interview" each man after gaining their first followers (5 questions and answers), then students conduct each of their last interviews (7 questions and answers), and the last task is a choice of 2 creative tasks. An answer key is included where appropriate and this would work for a sub.

Sample questions include:
--Explain Luther’s above quote in its religious and historical context.
--Explain the connection between Luther, the Reformation, and the Peace of Augsburg.
--Identify what you would consider the most significant difference between Calvin and Luther’s beliefs, explain it, and discuss why you think it is the most significant difference between the two.
--What do you each think will be your biggest challenge in achieving your goals?
--What is the most important item you each wish to accomplish for your new churches?
--Martin Luther, as you stood before the Diet of Worms and endured your excommunication, what were the first two thoughts that crossed your mind?
--John Calvin, how do you justify having people burned at the stake after you yourself were treated as a heretic?

--If you could each give yourselves one piece of advice the night before formally separating from the established Church, what would it be and why?
